We are delighted that you are interested in giving old furniture a second chance! Here at Folla Furniture, we revive old pieces with a new look. Most furniture we source are made of solid wood and have stood the test of time. Some need a little TLC which we are more than willing to give. We hope you appreciate our work and find a unique piece of furniture to brighten up your home.
For Sale
On the For Sale page (the button below will take you there), you'll find all the finished pieces we have available for sale. It takes time to get a piece finished since there is so much to do to get an old piece of furniture back into perfect shape again.
We start the process with the preparation stage. This entails vacuuming (getting rid of all the spiders and cobwebs!), cleaning (you have no idea how dirty furniture gets over years of continuous use), and making sure everything is in working order. again (pieces often get done away with because something doesn't work anymore) as well as applying a woodworm treatment, just in case! We also get rid of any major lumps and bumps on flat surfaces at this stage and add any embellishments. Prepping a piece usually takes the most time. But, as they say, a good beginning is half the job!
We then get to the painting stage. First we put on two primer coats to make sure there is no bleed through of any stains or pigments from the layer underneath. Once this has dried, usually within a day, we add the final paint colour(s). Between every coat (including the primer coats), we sand the whole piece to make sure the finish is as smooth as possible.
Next is the creative stage. We won't lie; this is the fun part! During this stage we make the piece unique by adding colour blends, appliqués, stencils, highlights, etc. You can rest assured you will have the only piece in the world looking like this!
Last but not least, after the paint has cured (which can take four weeks!) we put on the finish to make our creation lasting.
Available For Upcycling
We're always on the lookout for new furniture to upcycle. What we look for is sturdy, wooden furniture that has that special look, that classiness that you won't find anymore in modern furniture stores. Yes, they show some signs of wear and tear, but they're all solid pieces of furniture with great potential. With our TLC, they can be loved by you again.
Bespoke Colours and Finishes
Everyone has their own special taste in interior design. Some like dark colours, some prefer light colours, and others may go for the very bright colours. We totally understand this. Therefore, if you see a piece in our 'AVAILABLE' section that's to your liking (see above), we give you the opportunity to choose your own colour that goes with your interior. We can use all sorts of paint: latex, chalk, or mineral paints. And you can pick any brand (not just Dixie Belle) as the protective top coat that we apply after the paint has cured will make any brand of paint give you a lasting look. This top coat can be in gloss, semi-gloss, satin, matte, or ultra flat. The choice is yours.
